Hard Aces went to stud at Averett Farm in Louisiana after his racing career.

Louisiana-based stallion Hard Aces was represented by his first stakes winner last week when Spinning Aces captured the Nov. 10 Jean Lafitte Stakes at Delta Downs.

Racing in third early, Spinning Aces advanced to take command and was determined through the stretch, defeating Awesome Ruta by a neck. He raced seven furlongs over a sloppy track under Joel Dominguez in 1:27.86, posting an 82 Equibase Speed Figure. He paid $19.80 to win in taking the open, $100,000 stakes event.

Spinning Aces, a 2-year-old gelding bred by Gerald Averett Jr. in Louisiana out of the Afternoon Deelites  mare Just Alex, is 2-0-1 in three starts with earnings of $89,540 for owner Lynne Boutte and trainer Allen Landry.

Whence Sires First Winner in Louisiana

All of Us won his second career start Feb. 28 at Delta Downs.

 

Averett Farm’s Whence , a multiple-winning sprinter by Scat Daddy, sired his first winner Feb. 28 when his 3-year-old son All of Us  won a five-furlong maiden claimer at Delta Downs by three-quarters of a length in his second start.

All of Us is the first foal out of the winning Half Ours  mare Mine Yours an Ours  and was bred in Louisiana by Gerald Averett Jr. The mare has a 2-year-old by Ocean Knight  and is in foal this year to a full sibling to All of Us.

Graham ‘s Cruiser First Winner for Hard Aces

Hard Aces, by Hard Spun, won the 2015 Gold Cup at Santa Anita Stakes (G1).

 

 

Graham ‘s Cruiser  became the first winner for Louisiana stallion Hard Aces  when he won a state-bred maiden race at Delta Downs Feb. 11.

The 3-year-old raced in fourth for the first three-eighths of a mile before gaining on the leaders and taking the lead in the final furlong. He won by three-quarters of a length, racing five furlongs in 1:00.78 under C. J. McMahon. He earned $22,800 for winning the $38,000 race.

Hard Aces was retired after running 11th in the Berkeley Handicap (G3) at Golden Gate Fields in November 2017 and went to stud the following year at Averett Farm in Louisiana. He currently stands there for a $2,000 fee.
