We also have several quality individuals in the sale that were bred outside of Louisiana.”
All graduates of the sale will be eligible for the 2019 Equine Sales Derby and Equine Sales Oaks, which will offer purses of $60,000 apiece at Evangeline Downs. This year’s editions of those races were run over the weekend with Evelyn Benoit’s Brittlyn Stable sweeping both stakes with Magic Vow in the Derby and Bermuda Star in the Oaks. The latter also became the first stakes winner sired by Brittlyn-owned stallion and four-time Louisiana Horse of the Year Star Guitar.
