Hip #33, a filly by Maclean’s Music out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Sweet Jackie Jo was purchased by William and Corinne Heiligbrodt’s East Hickman for $145,000 to top the Sept. 5 Equine Sales of Louisiana’s Consignor Select Yearling Sale in Opelousas, La.
The sale topper was bred in Louisiana by and consigned by 4M Ranch. a half sister to two Louisiana bred stakes winners Actif Storm and Atchata, as well as multiple stakes-placed Nurse Goodnight.
Equine Sales reported 133 horses were sold for gross receipts of $1,518,500. The average price was $11,417, with a $6,000 median, and the 34 head that went unsold from 195 cataloged represented an RNA rate of 20.4%. The 2018 sale results reported 148 yearlings selling for a total $1,937,700 for an average price of $13,093 and median of $6,000, with an RNA rate of 28.2%.
East Hickman, with SBM as agent, also purchased the sale’s second-highest offering. The top selling colt, a son of Tapiture, Hip 133, from the Select Sales consignment, was purchased for $75,000.
Bred in Louisiana by Cloyce C. Clark, the colt is out of the multiple grade 3-placed mare Humble Janet (by Humble Eleven), a half sister to stakes winner and multiple graded-placed Han Sense. The colt is a half brother to multiple stakes winner Shang.
