– LOUISIANA NATIVE TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS DURING HUGE NIGHT OF RACING –
VINTON, LA. Delta Downs will host its second richest program of the year on Saturday during another edition of Louisiana Premier Night. The 12-race program will feature 10 stakes races for Louisiana-bred horses and well over $1,000,000 in total purse money. First post time on Saturday will be at 5:30 pm CT.
In addition to the action on the racetrack, fans will also have the opportunity to meet Hall of Fame jockey and Louisiana native Eddie Delahoussaye, whose career included 6,384 total wins, over $195 million in mount earnings, two Kentucky Derby wins, and seven Breeders Cup tallies. Eddie D, as he is affectionately called, will sign autographs in the tracks OTB between 3:30 and 4:30 pm CT.
The highlight of Saturdays race card will come in the 10th race of the night when seven horses square off in the $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship. The 1-1/16 mile showdown for older horses will feature last years winner Sunbean, who also won the $250,000 Delta Mile and the $60,000 Gold Cup earlier this year at Delta Downs. Sunbean, who is trained by Ron Faucheux, has earned over $1 million and made it to the winners circle in 13 of his 20 starts.
Another horse who will garner plenty of attention on Saturday is Heitai who will go postward in the $100,000 Louisiana Premier Night Sprint, which he won in 2014. Nationally prominent trainer Tom Amoss recently took over the conditioning chores for Heitai, who has made $823,543 on 12 wins from 27 total starts. The Louisiana Premier Night Sprint field will include six horses battling it out at five furlongs in the second race on the card.
