Tim Boyce, sales director of the BSCOL, believes this sale had a good outcome for the region. This sale proved it is a good southwest regional sale, states Boyce.  The buyers showed up from all over the United States and kept our consignors busy showing their yearlings since Saturday. We are satisfied with the outcome of this sale.

The sire power drove the sale along with the breeders who produced some outstanding yearlings, said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA). We believe we gave buyers ample opportunities to find a horse for any program. We were fortunate to have Tim as our sales director and he really produced for us during his first year on the job.

The BSCOL would also like to remind all buyers that any Louisiana Bred that passed through the sales ring at the 2015 Annual Yearling Sale is eligible to race in the A.L. Red Erwin Memorial Stakes or the Elge Rasberry Memorial Stakes which are currently run at Louisiana Downs in the late summer or early fall of their 3YO year. The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Inc. (BSCOL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA).

The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana announced earlier that it has been extended an invitation from Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino to have yearlings sold through the 2015 Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Yearling Sale to be eligible for two new stakes races that will be added to the stakes schedule at Evangeline Downs for the 2017 season. The races will be restricted to Three-Year-Olds that have been sold at either Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Yearling Sale or any Equine Sales Company of Louisiana Sale beginning with the 2015 sales. These new races will not be restricted to Louisiana Breds. Each race will offer a purse of $75,000 with one race for Fillies and the other for Colts & Geldings. The dates and conditions are yet to be announced.
