Breeders’ Cup Classic has Louisiana Connections

Two Louisiana based sires have connections to this year�s historic Breeders� Cup Classic. Yankee Gentleman and E Dubai are respectively the broodmare sires of American Pharoah and Effinex, the one and two finishers of the 2015 $5 million Classic.

Earlier this year, American Pharoah became the first horse in 37 years to sweep the Triple Crown races, decisively winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes, and is now the first ever to add the Breeders� Cup Classic, which was first run in 1984, to his crown. American Pharoah concludes his racing career with a record of nine wins and one second from eleven starts and earnings of $8,650,300. His dam, Littleprincessemma, is a daughter of Louisiana based sire Yankee Gentleman (Storm Cat-Key Phrase). Yankee Gentleman is a perreniel leading Louisiana sire and is currently ranked 6th among 2015 Leading Sires in Louisiana. Yankee Gentleman stands at LeMesa Thorougbreds in Carencro, Louisiana.

Breeders� Cup Classic second place runner was long-shot 33-1 Effinex, who earlier this year won the G2 Suburban H. and the G3 Excelsior S., and placed in the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. His dam, What A Pear is a multiple stakes winning daughter of Louisiana based sire E Dubai (Mr. Prospector-Words of War). E Dubai is currently ranked 2ndamong 2015 Leading Louisiana Sires and 3rd among 2015 Louisiana Juvenile Sires. E Dubai stands at Elite Thoroughbreds in Folsom, Louisiana.
