Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana 220 Hips Cataloged for 2015 Annual Yearling Sale

(New Orleans, La.) – The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana (BSCOL) announces 220 hips have been cataloged for their 2015 Annual Yearling Sale, set for a start at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La.
Tim Boyce, sales director of the BSCOL, believes this sale has become the outstanding sale of the region. �This sale has ascended from the leading Louisiana Yearling Sale to the strongest Southwest Regional Sale,� states Boyce.  �With six states represented I feel buyers from all over will be attending as the pedigrees are strong.  I�ve already received calls for cataloges, which indicates the heightened interest in the sale. When buyers get their books they will be even more pleased�.
 
Ninety-six stallions are represented with 36 consignors. �The sire power this year is unbelievable� said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA). �Inside our catalog, buyers will find yearlings by Archarcharch, Broken Vow, Eskendereya, Into Mischief, The Factor, Tale of the Cat, and Warrior�s Reward. Top Louisiana stallions including Custom For Carlos, Forefathers, Half Ours, Songandaprayer, and Yankee Gentleman along with regional sire leaders Too Much Bling and Grasshopper will give buyers ample opportunities to find a horse for any program.. Tim has done an outstanding job in putting our sale together in his first year at the helm and he intends to have catalogs in hand for distribution at the various sales around the country.�

The BSCOL would also like to remind all buyers that any Louisiana Bred that passes through the sales ring at the 2015 yearling sale is eligible to race in the A.L. �Red� Erwin Memorial Stakes or the Elge Rasberry Memorial Stakes which are currently run at Louisiana Downs in the late summer or early fall of their 3YO year. BSCOL Hires Boyce as 2015 Yearling Sales Director

The Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana (BSCOL), a subsidiary of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, today announced the hiring of Tim Boyce as Sales Director for their 2015 Yearling Sale. The sale will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, Louisiana. Tim comes to the BSCOL from Fasig-Tipton Sales where he was the Sales Director for their Texas Sales the last 19 years.

As the Sales Director, Tim will head the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana Annual Yearling Sale. This sale has been in operation since 1988 and serves as the leading outlet for Louisiana Breeders to bring their yearlings to market. Since its start, the BSCOL has continued to show growth in numbers and marked improvement in bloodlines. Yearlings bred in states other than Louisiana have done quite well in recent years as well, making this sale a leader in the Southwest Market. �We want to build upon what we have in place, and we believe we have the man to do just that,� said Brett Brinkman, President of the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana. �Tim has a lot of experience at doing what we are asking him to do. That is to produce a quality, well managed, sale.�

All Louisiana breds that that pass through the sales ring are eligible for either the Elge Rasberry Memorial Stakes, or the A.L. �Red� Erwin Memorial Stakes to be run in 2017.

Tom Early, President of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, believes this is a shot in the arm for our association. �We always strive to do the best that we can. There are members of this association who insist that we have this sale, as it is is the best way to attract buyers from all over the United States.  Having Tim on board will help our sale tremendously.�

Consignment contracts for the 2015 Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana, Inc. (BSCOL) Annual Yearling Sale have been mailed. A consignment deadline of June 15, 2015 has been set.

The sale date is set for Tuesday, September 29, 2015, and will once again be held at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe. All horses must be on the grounds by noon, Sunday, September 27.

Louisiana Breds are a good commodity because of the state’s breeding and racing incentive program.

Louisiana Breds Top Day One at OBS Winter Mixed Sale

Louisiana Bred yearlings earned top money in the consignor preferred session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s winter mixed sale Jan. 28.

An accredited Louisiana bred yearling filly from the first crop of multiple grade I winner The Factor topped the opening session with a final bid of $190,000 from George Bolton and Peter Leidel. The gray or roan filly bred by Summerhill Farms LLC and Terry Gabriel, is a half sister to accredited Louisiana bred graded placed stakes winner Southern Dude out of the winning Cobra King mare Viva Vega, a full sister to stakes winner Follow Me Home.

Kim Harrison of Top Speed Farm, agent, consigned the session topper, who sold as hip No. 105. “She’s a beautiful filly,” said John Moynihan, who signed the ticket on the Louisiana-bred filly. “We thought as nice as she is it would be too expensive to buy her later on. George and Peter are very excited to have her.”

Bolton campaigned The Factor in partnership with Fog City Stable. The fast son of War Front won the 2011 Malibu Stakes (gr. I) and the 2012 Pat O’Brien Stakes (gr. I), as well as the 2011 Rebel Stakes (gr. II) for trainer Bob Baffert en route to career earnings of $922,180.

Bidding for another accredited Louisiana bred yearling filly went to $90,000 for the second-highest price horse of the session. EQB Inc., agent for Zayat Stables, signed the ticket for the filly by WinStar stallion Pioneerof the Nile out of the Doneraile Court mare Cinnamon Kisses. Consigned by Summerfield (Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck), the Louisiana-bred filly hails from the female family of grade I winners and millionaires Stellar Jayne and Starrer. She was bred by Gulf Haven Farms, LLC.

“I thought she was lovely,” said EQB’s Patrice Miller, who signed the ticket. “She has page, she’s big, and she jumped through all of our hoops. I think she was one of the best in the sale.”
