Hip #40, a filly by Too Much Bling

A Texas-bred filly by Too Much Bling worked an eighth-mile in :10 1/5 on Saturday to post the fastest time at the distance during the under tack show for the Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale at Lone Star Park. The sale, which was previously managed by Fasig-Tipton in partnership with the Texas Thoroughbred Association and Lone Star Park, is now being conducted jointly by the TTA and the track. The sale is set for Monday at 12 noon Central at the Texas Thoroughbred Sale Pavilion on the grounds of Lone Star. For a complete list of times, click here.

Asmussen Horse Center, agent, consigned the above mentioned fastest horse at an eighth-mile. The gray or roan filly is out of the Action This Day mare Soft Music, who has produced two multiple winners from as many starters.

From two horses working a quarter-mile, a Kentucky-bred filly from the first crop of Gemologist posted the fastest clocking of :22 3/5. She is consigned by Brody Veal, agent, and is a half sister to stakes winner Uncle Brennie.

“We were very pleased with the turnout at Lone Star Park and anticipate a good turnout for the sale on Tuesday,” said Mary Ruyle, executive director of the Texas Thoroughbred Association. “We appreciate all the support from the consignors and the interest we have seen already from buyers.”

Videos from Saturday’s Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale under tack show are now available online by clicking here. The auction is set for Monday at 12 noon and will be live streamed on the TTA website.

Nearly 100 Head Consigned to Equine Sales Company 2-Year-Old Sale
A total of 93 horses have been consigned to the catalogue that is now available online for the Equine Sales Company 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale set for Tuesday, May 10, in Opelousas, Louisiana. The breeze show will be held May 8. The sale company is still accepting supplements, and the auction will also include horses of racing age.
“We have a solid catalogue of what should be well-prepared 2-year-olds,” said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Company. “Many of these horses will be ready to go right to the track to take advantage of the lucrative purses offered for Louisiana-breds and the variety of juvenile stakes later this summer and fall.”
As usual, the catalogue includes progeny of the leading sires in Louisiana as well some top Kentucky stallions and young sires in both states. Graduates of this sale will be eligible for the 2017 Equine Sales Derby and Equine Sales Oaks to be run at Evangeline Downs for $75,000 per division.
Last year’s sale topper, a colt by Gold Tribute named Cale’s Gold, has already earned back his $65,000 purchase price for owner Jerry Namy. The Louisiana-bred, who was consigned by Boutte Sales, agent, banked $95,135 last year with a victory in the $100,000 D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity at Evangeline Downs and placings in the Kip Deville Stakes at Remington Park and Louisiana Cup Juvenile Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

Equine Sales Company Announces Date for Unified Yearling Sale with LTBA

Equine Sales Company today announced that it will hold its Consignor Select Yearling Sale on September 7, 2016, in Opelousas, Louisiana. This will be the first unified yearling sale held by Equine Sales together with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA). A mutual agreement between Equine Sales and the LTBA was announced earlier this week. The LTBA and Equine Sales will now work jointly to promote and support the September sale.
“We are thrilled to have the endorsement of the LTBA and truly believe that by working together we can grow the market for Louisiana-bred horses, both nationally and within the state,” said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales. “We expect to have robust interest from both consignors and buyers for this joint yearling sale, especially with the support and promotion of the LTBA.”
Equine Sales also announced that it is still accepting consignments for its 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale to be held May 10.
“We already have a strong catalogue on tap for that sale,” noted Bridewell, “and we are getting a lot of calls about the new Equine Sales Oaks and Equine Sales Derby that will debut this year.”
The new races for sale graduates, to be run May 6 and 7 at Evangeline Downs, will each feature a $75,000 purse for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles. Horses going through the ring at this year’s 2-year-old and yearling sales will be eligible for future runnings.

Unified Horse Sale Agreement Announced

March 1, 2016

(New Orleans, La.) – The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA) and Equine Sales of Louisiana today proudly announce a mutual agreement with the purpose of encouraging and supporting the sale, purchase, and racing opportunities for Louisiana Thoroughbred horse owners, breeders, trainers and potential buyers in the State of Louisiana. The LTBA has agreed to suspend the operation of the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana’s Annual Yearling Sale for a period of five years. During this period the LTBA will assist in the advertising and information gathering and provide a full endorsement of the Equine Sales of Louisiana. “The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and its members are the number one priority here. Moving forward as a unified group will only solidify the future of the industry in Louisiana,” said Tom Early, President of the LTBA. Gary Johnson, President of Equine Sales of Louisiana, was equally pleased. “Horsemen working together for a common goal is always what’s best for business in Louisiana. The agreement to work together to provide a Yearling sale that everyone can be proud of is what’s best for the horsemen.”

Tim Boyce, sales director of the BSCOL, believes this sale had a good outcome for the region. This sale proved it is a good southwest regional sale, states Boyce.  The buyers showed up from all over the United States and kept our consignors busy showing their yearlings since Saturday. We are satisfied with the outcome of this sale.

The sire power drove the sale along with the breeders who produced some outstanding yearlings, said Roger Heitzmann, secretary/treasurer of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association (LTBA). We believe we gave buyers ample opportunities to find a horse for any program. We were fortunate to have Tim as our sales director and he really produced for us during his first year on the job.
